Temptation: Music from the Showtime Series Californication

CD contains 20 tracks of music from Californication, the Showtime 12-part series production created by Tom Kapinos and starring David Duchovny as Hank Moody, a troubled novelist whose move to LA and problems with his job complicate the relationships with his ex-girlfriend Karen (Natascha McElhone) and daughter Becca (Madeleine Martin). Songs featured are from The Rolling Stones, Peeping Tom, My Morning Jacket and The Doors plus several songs from the series. The show was renewed for a second season on September 7, 2007. For this Nancy Meyers-directed romantic comedy, Hans Zimmer serves up a breezy score quite different from the more heavy-duty works he’s become known for. This may have something to do with the film’s tone, of course, but also with the fact that Zimmer has sole credit on only two cues, having co-written the others with members of his extensive stable of helpers, including guitarist Heitor Pereira and even pop artist Imogen Heap (who also contributes wordless vocals in addition to getting writing credits on three tracks). In the film, Jack Black’s character is a composer who namedrops Ennio Morricone; Zimmer steps up to the challenge with the opening track, “Maestro” (one of his solo compositions), which evidently seeks to emulate the romantic sweep of some of Morricone’s scores and nearly succeeds. (This may sound like a criticism but getting near Morricone level is nothing to sneeze at.) A little later “Verso e Prosa,” a collaboration between Pereira and Herb Alpert - who contributes his immediately identifiable trumpet–also stands out. If the rest of the CD had shown as much spirited zest as these two tracks, the album could have become a prized addition to any soundtrack lover’s library; alas, the other cues are too devoid of personality to make a lasting impression.

Because of the incident, Brown cancelled his performance at the 51st Grammy that same night, where he was nominated for two big awards.

Now the bigger question is, whether or not the victim was the singer's girlfriend, Umbrella singer Rihanna. However, speculations have it that it was indeed Rihanna who made the call to 911. Rihanna also cancelled her stint at the Grammy's.

The previous day, Brown and Rihanna were seen as a loving couple, and it is unclear was led to the public altercation that got the police involved.

The bigger issue here is the way this issue is gonna affect the careers of both Brown and Rihanna. But I think that the most blow would go to Brown. He has had a squeaky clean image and a career that is almost on top of the world. He is in a position where people would probably kill to be in. But now, all that has seemed to gone down the drain.

Is there a way that PR can salvage his image and still remain unperturbed in his spot? Only the days will tell us.
